3. Summary of the book
Basil Hallward paints the portrait of Dorian Gray who is real beautiful . Dorian arrives later and watch the paint of his face. He realises that his beauty will dissappear. So he says that he would give his soul for stay young and that the paint would grow old at his place.
Dorian meets Sybil Vane who performs Shakespeare in a theatre and later proposes her in marriage. For Sybil, Dorian is the “ Prince Charmant” but her brother, James, is disagree with she and says that if Dorian hurts, he will kill him !
A day, Dorian invites Basil and Lord Henry to see Sybil play Romeo and Juliet but this day she play very badly and Dorian is no longer interested in her. When he returns in his house he remarques that the portrait now grow old. So his wish came true. Now, He decides to reconcile with Sibyl but she killed with an acid and Dorian is unaffected.
With the persuasion of lord Henry, Dorian realizes that vice is the best in the life. Dorian descent into the low society of London and his face do not change while his portrait old more of more.
