Session Objectives At the end of the session you should :- 1.be able to identify at least 4 factors which can be barriers to learning 2.list as many of the expected functions of a teacher as possible 3.order the stages of the teacher/training cycle

PTTLS AIMS To make tutors more effective and confident in helping their students to learn by: Developing their own styles and approaches in teaching their own subjects. Integrating theory and practice Developing confidence Reflecting on experience

What you will be expected to do describe, or reflect upon on the current role, responsibilities and capabilities that you have/or will have assess students’ needs and provide suitable support understand basic principles of teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation processes applicable to your own situation prepare for teaching by organising learning resources and session plans undertake an extended microteaching session evaluate your own development as a teacher

Weekly Reflections & Learning Journal How to write your journal. Make sure that you write your journal at the end of each session as this will comprise Assignment 2/6

Barriers to learning Identify some of the barriers for adults –Activity complete blank walls with barriers –Case studies to over come barriers

Learning Experiences Individually - You have written down details of one good and one bad learning experience that you can remember. In small groups - 1.Compare your experiences and choose an outstanding example of one good and one bad learning experience. 2.Analyse what made these experiences either effective or ineffective, good or bad.
