2 Adventure Protagonist lives by wits and skills consistently placed in in dangerous situations. “To Build a Fire”- Main character struggles to survive in a snowstorm.

3 Symbol Stands for or represents something else. “Moby Dick”- The whale symbolizes evil.

4 Archetype Patterns in literature found around the world. “Red Badge of Courage”-The archetype is just like any other war story.

5 Epigraph Quote at the beginning of a chapter in a book.

6 Romanticism Literary and artistic movement, focused on imagination. “to build a fire”- the man was romantic with his dog?

7 Wilderness Gothic Medieval, wild, or mysterious “to build a fire”- weird story about how he manages to survive.
