How to use the OPIS (Online Parcel Information System) to locate properties. OPIS is an online graphical user interface to locate properties in Pitt County This is a powerful web application that can search properties by – Name of Owner – Address – Parcel Number

How to Access the OPIS System ? Open your web browser – Internet Explorer or – Mozilla Firefox Click on the Address Bar Type in the following website address – http://gis2.pittcountync.gov/opis/

Search Criteria of OPIS As you can see you can search the OPIS Database using different criteria You can search properties by – Owner – Address – Parcel Number

What information we can access using this web application? This is a powerful web application that can access the following information about any property in Pitt County: 1.Parcel Number of the property 2.Physical Address of the property 3.NC Pin Number 4.Current Owner Document Deed Number 5.Deed Document Sale Price of property 6.Deed Document Date 7.Year the Property was built 8.Land Value 9.Building Value 10.Total Market Value

Lets Look at an Example We will do a Property Search by – Name – Address – Parcel Number Since this presentation will be graded by the Professor, I will use her information as an example, for the sake of privacy.

How to search the database by Name Type in the name Of the Property Owner Click Search Let’s do a search by The last name

After you click the “Search” button you will see A list of names having the same last name “Tucker” Record Number “89” is our target information Let’s click on the record and find out the details about this property

We get the exact location of the property : “the blue square”

We can get lots of information about the property In this example We got – The Parcel number of the property : 64670 – The physical address of the property: 410 Edenton Ct – The name of the owner – The NC PIN number

We also have the following information The Deed Document date The Deed document Sales Price Building type Year the building was built The value of the building Land Value Total Current Market Value

What you have learned ? You have learned that : You can search ANY property in Pitt County – By “Last Name” and/or “First Name” – By the Street Address – By using the Parcel Number of the property

Now let’s get more information on the deeds of the property We need this information to access the deeds of the property To verify the records submitted are correct You need to type in the following web address in your web browser address bar: – http://regdeeds.pittcountync.gov/resolution/indexing /idx_simple_name_search.asp http://regdeeds.pittcountync.gov/resolution/indexing /idx_simple_name_search.asp – The following slide shows the screen of the web form – Type in the first name and last name of the property owner

Select the name and Click on the “Display” button to get more details

Why you need this information? You need this information to locate a property Verify the data in the database and the Excel spreadsheet is correct and updated Verify the ownership information of the property Verify the property values and other related information in the other forms and related databases.
