Goals of the Collaboration
Formal or Informal? Formal body could obtain political support from ASEAN and Member-States What are your priorities? It varies per country. The first priority is promotion of Oral Health in the Region

The Need for Collaboration
A Resounding Yes from Everyone There is great need and aspiration to strengthen social and political acceptance of Oral Health as a bio-medical discipline at the regional and local level Increasing the voice of Oral Health in WHO policies Collaboration provides the chance for support and greater space for learning Holistic Approach: Enhancing Quality of Life

Areas for Collaboration
Information Development and Sharing Develop a website for the collaboration Come up with a distinct Name. (Dr. Prae will supervise this) Maximise the existing roadmap and programmes developed by the CDO and the ASEAN Joint Coordinating Committee for Dental Practitioners Resource hub (i.e. Dropbox—free and accessible to all)- Dr. Sunsanee will take care of this. Include information on conferences/symposia/trainings in ASEAN Include narratives on practices Write and submit articles on Oral Health Promotion

Enhancing Competencies Training Programmes for Dental Personnel Continuing Education for dental personnel Research on oral health programmes, activities Collaboration for multi-centre research Standard Research methodologies (collaboration with Academics) Regional Exchange programmes: Consultacies, Personnel and Students Developing a Regional Standandized curriculum for Community-based Oral Health Work

Enhancing Competencies (Cont’d) Knowledge sharing on Dental Safety Goals Clinical Practice Guidelines Universal Health Care Systems in different countries Licensing Programme (Sharing of Practices)

Strengthening and Empowering the Community Sharing of Best Practices in terms of Promotion of Oral Health Programmes and Services (Technology, Advocacy, Information Systems, Education) Build and Nurture sense of Ownership amongst community members

Monitoring and Feedback mechanism Amongst New Graduates and Personnel: Strengthen ways to enhance performance level through an evaluation process Amongst National Agencies and Community Centers: Periodic evaluation of implementation Amongst Regional Coalition Members: Report-back system

Ways to Collaborate Website will be developed
Initial Membership: ASEAN Members Only Conduct Annual Meetings, Workshops, Conferences (to be proposed to Ministry of Health)– it has to be related to ASEAN (suggestion to put ASEAN ++) Identify themes for discussion in the following years: Community Programmes Skype Meeting is more feasible as informal contact platform. Process of Counterpart: technical and financial Intra-collaboration: Within ASEAN (as a whole or bilaterally) Inter-collaboration: With other Asian countries Supra-collaboration: With other Networks, academics, WHO and private sector
