What you can do in the media center
Gather information for an assignment Read magazines and newspaper Checkout books to read for pleasure Use computers for research

Library Rules All School Rules Apply
The library is for reading, studying, conducting research, and learning. NO one will behave in such a manner as to detract from these endeavors. Respect others and property. No food, candy, gum, or beverages should be brought in or eaten in the library.

Rules cont. Magazines and reference materials cannot be checked out.
Students must have a pass from their teacher in order to stay in the library. Sign in & out in order to verify you came to media center.

Procedures upon entering media center
Come in quietly! When coming with a class: Sit at tables; one person to a chair Wait until your table is called to get up for checkout, to get magazines or other materials, or when leaving When leaving push chairs under the tables

When coming in small groups or alone Give pass from your teacher to Mrs. Hopper Sign in giving all information (name, teacher, time entered, reason) Do what you need to do without wasting time Before you leave push chair under table Sign out giving time leaving & get your pass

Copying/printing Available
Copies on the copy machine are $ .10 per page/side. Print-outs from computers on laser printer are $. 25 per page. Must have flash drive with info for printing Media Center does not provide color printing

Reference Most are incorporated with non-fiction books.
Special reference books are on the lab side of the media center. *Can only be used in the media center.

Computers Can only use if you have turned in
the “Computer Use Agreement” Used for research/school assignments Used for publishing papers/projects DESTINY

Checkout Procedures May have only 2 books out at a time
You may come any time as long as you have pass from your teacher May have only 2 books out at a time May keep books for 2 weeks No other checkouts with overdue books No student may check out a book for another student

If you want to renew a book you must have the book with you
If another student wants the book you have he/she can check it out when you return it. Do not give your book to someone else.

Over Due Books You will have a one week grace period before fines start. Fines are set at 5 cents a day. If you are out for any reason when your class comes to Media center it is your responsibility to get your books in when you return; Not your teacher’s.

Returning Books Place books on cart upright, not stacked on top of each other If you discovered a problem with the book (torn page, etc.) please, show the media specialist as soon as possible. Do not put the book on the cart.

The media center is for your use.
Remember The media center is for your use. Use it wisely and often!!
