26 Friday, September 5 Triangular Trade-trade system with 3 stops (Americas, Europe, Asia) Warm UP: Why did Pilgrims/Puritans leave England to settle in America? What region did they settle?

28 Activity Read Chapter 4 Section 1 pages 93-97 SGPT-how were the regions different? How did the geography of New England affect the kind of farming practiced there? What was the purpose of the Navigation Acts?

29 TRIANGULAR TRADE The first stage of the triangular trade involved taking manufactured goods from Europe to Africa: cloth, spirits, tobacco, beads and guns. The guns were used to help expand empires and obtain more slaves. These goods were exchanged for African slaves. The second stage of the triangular trade was called The Middle Passage. This involved shipping the slaves to the Americas. The third and final stage involved the return to Europe with the produce from the slave-labor plantations: cotton, sugar, tobacco, molasses and rum. Slave Discussion-where did the slaves come from, why were they needed and what was their role in the triangular trade?
