The Homo Habilis Group The Homo Habilis Group roamed Africa about 2.5 million years ago. Their brains were half the size as ours! Homo Habilis also means “Handy Man”.

The Homo Erectus Group The Homo Erectus Group roamed Africa about 1.5 million years ago. They migrated to Asia and Europe. They also handled more advanced tools like the hand ax. They learned to control fire. Homo Erectus means “Upright Man”

Homo Sapiens Homo Sapiens appeared in Africa about 200,000 years ago and migrated around the world. They learned to create fire. They used many tools. They developed language.

The Paleolithic Era Stone tools were used. They were hunters and gatherers. They ate nuts and fruit.

The Mesolithic Era Used bone tools. Had pets. They made canoes and used them to travel rivers.

The Neolithic Era Began 10,000 years ago and ended when metal was used to make tools. They learned how to plant seeds and crops. Some of their tools were saws and drills. They also learned how to domesticate animals.
