: British Impressment of American sailors. : British incitement of Indians in Northwest Terr. British supplies Native Americans with weapons.

5 Battle of Tippecanoe The battle occurred in November of 1811.
The Americans were led by Governor William Henry Harrison of Indiana. Fought against the Shawnee Indians led by Chief Tecumseh and his brother the Prophet. Tecumseh and the Shawnee were receiving weapons from the British.

6 The Battle of Tippecanoe
Tecumseh and his brother were forming a Native American alliance and wanted to stop the sale of Native lands. The battle was won by the Americans. This battle helped the “War hawks” cry for war This battle would be credited as the first battle of the War of Ironic??

9 American Reactions 1807: Embargo Act 1809: Non-Intercourse Act
1810: Macon’s bill No.2, reopened trade with France and Britain, as long as they respected America’s neutrality.

10 America goes to War: A Tragic Irony.
June 1, 1812: Madison asked Congress for a declaration of war. June 16, 1812: Britain repeals Orders of Council; wants to respect Americas neutrality. June 18, 1812: Not aware of the repealing of Orders of Council, Congress approves war with Great Britain.

Unprepared for war. Lack of Financial resources. Did not have the support of New England and New York.

12 Disadvantages: Great Britain
Britain did not want war, needed the Americas trade. Second-String resources used for US war Most of their resources went towards the Napoleonic War. Treasury Depleted Lacked financial resources.
