USE YOUR CLICKERS! True = AFalse = B Because it is a renewable resource, fresh water is available in unlimited amounts.

Water Resources Unit Part One: Sources of water 1.Surface Water (River Systems, Watershed, Runoff) 2. Groundwater (Aquifer, Water Table, Recharge Zone) Part Two: Water Pollution 1.Point-source pollution vs. Nonpoint-source pollution 2.Nutrient, Toxic-chemical, Sediment, Thermal, and Biological Pollution Part Three: Water Treatment 1.Drinking water treatment 2.Wastewater treatment

Part One – 8 minutes 1.Crumble newspaper into balls and rolls of different sizes/shapes. Tape them into your tray. 2.Cover the entire pan with the plastic. Press the plastic down around the newspaper.
8
Part Two – 8 minutes 1.Sketch a bird’s eye view of the model. 2.Mark higher elevations with “H” and lower elevations with “L.” 3.With a RED color, predict the locations of 1.Streams or rivers 2.Ponds or lakes
9
Part Three – 8 minutes 1.Prop one end of the tray on a book so it is at an angle. 2.RAIN! Spray water on the model. Note where the water flows. 3.Using a BLUE marker, mark on the sketch where the water actually flows. 1.Streams or rivers 2.Ponds or lakes
10
Part Four – 8 minutes Answer in your notebook: 1.How did your prediction match the actual water flow? How did it differ? 2.Define watershed in your own words. Draw a picture of your model and label the watershed. 3.Define runoff in your own words. Draw a picture of the watershed and label the runoff. 4.Compare and contrast the drainage pattern of a watershed to the human nervous system, a tree in winter, or a road system.

Watershed Lab Make-up Read pages 422 and 423 in the textbook, answer the questions on the “Map It” section in your notebook. Title it “Watershed Lab”. Give complete answers for full credit.
