8. Reading for IELTS : Academic Reading:
There are 3 passages with questions requiring different techniques to answer. For example in one part you may be required to fill in the gaps or complete sentences based on the reading or you may be required to complete a chart or diagram based on the description

Section 1: usually descriptive and factual. There are two or more texts based on social situations.
Section 2: usually descriptive and factual. There are two texts based on course related situation.
Section 3: usually argumentative. There is one text which tests general reading comprehension.

10. Writing for IELTS : Academic Writing:
Task 1: you are given a picture or graph and you are expected to write at least 150 words in 20 minutes.
Task 2: you are given a topic and you are expected to write at least 250 words in 40 minutes.
General Training Writing:
Task 1: you are expected to write a letter in at least 150 words.
Task 2: you are expected to write an essay in at least 250 words.
