© beas group 2011 / Page 4 Learning Targets After working through the lesson, you will be able to: Create resource groups Understand the differences between resource groups Schedule simple resources Set up a detailed scheduling of machine and resource groups

© beas group 2011 / Page 6 Resource groups General What are resource groups? A resource group is a combination of several resources. This can be machines or employees.

© beas group 2011 / Page 7 Resource groups Types of resource groups For different applications be.as offers several types of resource groups: A simple resource group consists of multiple machines/persons. Only the group as a whole is scheduled, there is no planning for their parts. Different resources, which are not summarized to a group for computing capacities. This is called a resource domain. A resource group whose capacity is summarized, but their parts are scheduled separately. For this group, a resource is defined, which represents this group. This is called a machine group, but it could be also a group of people.

© beas group 2011 / Page 9 Resource groups simple resource group A simple resource group is created as normal resource. In the Scheduling tab in column „number of mach.|pers“ the number of the single resources of this group is deposited. A further detailed division into single machines/persons is not possible. Only the group as a whole is scheduled.

© beas group 2011 / Page 10 Resource groups simple resource group At scheduling you can define, how many of the single resources of this groups may be accessed. Based on the maximum of available resources, you may define a number or a percentage.

© beas group 2011 / Page 11 Resource groups simple resource group Creating the resource group, the capacity was registered for all days. In the scheduling calendar it is possible to enter deviant daily capacities or to change the number of available resources. For example: holiday planning of a group of persons on a assembling work station. Below the date the capacity is displayed. Deviance (example)default More (48)32 Equal (32)32 Less (16)32

© beas group 2011 / Page 12 Resource groups simple resource group Scheduling for simple resource groups Scheduling is performed to the minute. For time reservation a daily pool is used, that means, it is not checked, in which period resources are idle, but only how much spare time on that day is still available

© beas group 2011 / Page 13 Resource groups simple resource group Example: Ressource with 2 persons 8 hours each. Two work orders are dispatched simultaneously, start: 8:00 time required 4 hours. Multiple machine operation enabled. (in parallel on two persons). Result: They both begin at 8:00 and finish at 10:00. Reason: only the daily capacity pool is checked. 8 hours of capacity is enough for both work orders.

© beas group 2011 / Page 14 Resource groups simple resource group Application: Use simple resource groups if you want to work without the grafical planning table and no detailed scheduling down to the level of single machines or persons is needed. Simple resource groups allow a fast computation of the delivery date or the start date, without a scheduling to the minute the start of a maintenance sequence.

© beas group 2011 / Page 15 Agenda Resources groups 1: Introduction 2: Simple resource group 3: Resource Domain 4: Machine group: detailed scheduling

© beas group 2011 / Page 16 Resource groups resource domain A resource domain is a group of resources, which are not summarized for capacity scheduling. For example a liste of resources, which are controlled by an employee. Such a domain is created as „resource group“ and each single resource is assigned to that group.

© beas group 2011 / Page 17 Resource groups resource domain Next, enter an group ID and the domain. Do not activate the switch „directly schedulable“. Now enter new resources and assign them to the group.

© beas group 2011 / Page 18 Agenda Resources groups 1: Introduction 2: Simple resource group 3: Resource Domain 4: Machine group: detailed scheduling

© beas group 2011 / Page 19 Resource groups machine groups Each machine of a machine group is separately schedulable. This allows detailed planning. Example: 5 equivalent milling machines Approach: 1.Create group 2.Create associated ressources 3.Select „directly schedulable“ 4.Enter an ID for scheduling „with ID“. This ID is displayed in the work sequence. Usually the same like the group ID. 5.After the ID has been entered, the resource master screen opens. There you define the resource, which is used in the work sequence.

© beas group 2011 / Page 20 Resource groups machine groups: detailed scheduling A resource group consists of single resources and a planning resource, which represents the resources at the moment of scheduling (eg. In pre-calculation) Resource group Machine 1 Machine 2 Machine 3 Planned resource Planned resource

© beas group 2011 / Page 21 Resource groups machine groups: detailed scheduling The planning resource represents all resources of the group: it containes the sum of all planned capacities of the group. For calculation, to the planning resource the average cost rate of the single resources must be assigned. This needs to be calculatedand entered manually. No time receipts are possible on planning resources. For confirmation, select the real single resource, on which the work was done. Resource group Machine 1 Machine 2 Machine 3 Planned resource Planned resource

© beas group 2011 / Page 22 Resource groups machine groups: detailed scheduling In the graphical view the work sequence is dispatched to the planning resource by means of rough planning (time reservation via daily pool). In the APS view, you can easily replace the planning resource by the real resource. In this example for both work sequences the same machine is selected. After a recalculation the work sequences are arranged succesively, because only one machine is available.

© beas group 2011 / Page 23 Resource groups machine groups: detailed scheduling Automatic optimization: For these groups automatic optimization can be activated. This is done in the resource group, select: „automatic optimization“. Now the program uses always the optimal resource. Further information : see training unit „resource optimization“

© beas group 2011 / Page 24 Resource groups machine groups: detailed scheduling Work order logon: If the planning resource is deposited in the work sequence, for time receipt, you need to chose the real resource first.

© beas group 2011 / Page 25 Resource groups machine groups: detailed scheduling Use detailed planning if you need a scheduling to the minute for each machine. This requires a very diligent data administration but allows an optimal capacity utilization, if plan figures are correct. Restriction: be.as does not offer the function to dispatch several machines of a resource group in parallel for detailed planning. Parallel dispatching is only possible for rough planning using a daily pool.

© beas group 2011 / Page 26 Summary You can now: Create resource groups Understand the differences between resource groups Schedule simple resources Set up a detailed scheduling of machine and resource groups

Thank you for your cooperation!
