 A stable particle with a negative charge. Can be found in all atoms and carries electricity.  Random Fact:

 Bonds are formed whenever atoms unite together chemically. The bond would be called a chemical bond because a chemical reaction occurs to make that bond.

 Electrons can be found in specific places inside of regions called electron shells, which also can be known as energy levels.

 The closer electrons are to the nucleus the more they are attracted to its positive charge.  The farther away electrons are from the nucleus the less securely they are held, which makes them more likely to interact with other atoms

 When atoms bond, the important electrons are in the outermost shell called the valence shell because those that are closest to the outside are the ones that get shared.  When the valence shell of an atom has 8 electrons, the atom is stable and is chemically inactive. But when the valence shell has less than 8 electrons, the atom will tend to give and take electrons until it is stabilized.

 Ionic bonds are made when electrons are received from one atom to another. Atoms are neutral, but when they give and take electrons during bonding there charges are no longer stabilized, those are called ions.
