Bienvenidos a la clase de español 1 This is a high school level course

Academic goals I will prepare you to be successful in a Spanish 2 program Those who achieve an 80 average or better will be recommended for Spanish 2 Those with an average of 90 or higher will be recommend for Spanish 2 honors all others will be asked to repeat Spanish 1.

Materials for class 1 three ring binder 1” or bigger w/dividers 180 filler sheets A highlighter A good supply of pens and pencils Recommended A clip in pencil case to be kept in Spanish binder

Textbook Realidades 1 2008/or later (replacement cost $~79.00) Textbook to be kept at home

Grading point system (total divided by total possible points) quizzes, tests, projects, writing samples, homework, class productivity, notebook (all worksheets need to be kept for each term- vocabulary sheets need to be kept in folder for the whole year) quiz points can vary in range depending how challenging they are A+

Late work will receive partial credit until end of unit NO WORK wil be accepted after Unit Test

Extra credit- up to 10% of the term’s final average ( Each chapter extra credit must be turned in before Unit Test) 5 points- for word puzzles (20 words) 15 points- Powerpoint for All chapter vocabulary, visual included 10 points- Powerpoint for All chapter vocabulary without a visual ½ point- for sentences using current vocabulary 2 points- for flashcards

Homework Usually 4 nights a week Students get a calendar with assignments for each unit. Homework is also written on the easel/whiteboard and online www.spanishpcis.wikispaces.com Not assigned on Fridays unless necessary

Seating arrangement Flexible/Assigned seating on the first day of school (Please notify teacher with special concerns)
