Homework Following the style of “The Frog Prince,” write your own poem based on a famous fairy tale or nursery rhyme. Try to give the original story a humorous twist while at the same time conveying an insight about life. Your poem should also mirror Smith’s use of diction/wordplay – 2 different words

“The Frog Prince” and “Not Waving But Drowning” by Stevie Smith–pg. 1249 Use the graphic organizer to summarize each stanza of Smith’s poems. Analyze Smith’s use of wordplay (next slide has directions)

Diction in Poetry-on separate paper Skim “The Frog Prince” for the following words: disenchantment and heavenly Skim “Not Waving But Drowning” for: far out and cold For each of the words you track, discuss the line(s) where they are used and how their meanings change throughout the poem.
