Initiation Label each phase of mitosis and describe what is happening to during the phase. (2 points) 1. 2.3. 4.
2
1.Describe the steps of DNA replication. (1 point) (You can use pictures, but if you do, be sure to label each part). SWBAT: Summarize the events of DNA replication 2. Why do we say that DNA is replicated semi-conservatively? (point 1)
3
SWBAT: name the main events of the cell cycle. 3. The cell cycle has four phases: G1, S, G2, and M. What major cellular events are occurring in each of the phases? (1 point) 4. A cell that is found in your small intestine divides every 400 hours. If this cell spends 25% of its life cycle in M-phase, how much time is spent in Interphase? (1 point) (you must include units of time to get full credit)
4
SWBAT: describe what happens during the 4 phases of Mitosis. 5. Label the four major phases of mitosis. (anaphase, telophase, prophase, metaphase) AB CD

Activity For Thursday/Friday! Mitosis Activity: You have 1 of 2 choices to make for your assignment today. This assignment is designed to reinforce what you learned about the 4 phases of mitosis yesterday. Choice 1 (drawing): Make a well drawn colorful flip book illustrating what is happening during each stage of mitosis. Each page of your book needs to have a very short description of the stage you drew on the side. Handouts for this choice are up front. Choice 2 (writing): For this choice, you will pretend that you have a friend who is sick and cannot come to school. The only way you can contact this friend is through email. You will need to write an in detail story explaining mitosis for your friend so that they can fully understand the process. Make the story entertaining for your sick friend. They told me they were tired of reading their boring text book all the time. (Needs to be 1 page in length)
6
Termination: Rate yourself and tell me why in the front.
