◦ Book Level Goal Generated by the software. Helps ensure students read at a level appropriate for them as individuals. They are set at the low end of students’ ZPDs to encourage them to read freely throughout an appropriate range. If students have not taken the STAR Reading test, they can use the chart in packet to determine ZPDs. 4

Each grade level should offer different rewards/incentives. This way, students will go through the AR program with something different to look forward to each year. Ideas For every 5 books a student reads, they will get a reward. 5 – Bookmark 10 – Reading Certificate 15 – Change your seat day 20 – Homework Pass 25 – Lunch with Teacher 30 - Surprise Readers’ Hall of Fame - Students recognized for the number of books they read (successfully).
