20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Matt. 7; Rev. 3).
Begin by pointing out the biblical concept of “Knocking on the door.”

Many “accept” Jesus’ role but they deny that many has any real participation. The doctrines of grace only, the irresistible working of the Spirit, etc. all preclude man’s serious involvement.

Man seems to focus on God’s part to the neglect of man’s duty. God will be faithful in doing his part; when there is failure, it is man’s fault. Hence. The need of emphasizing man’s duty.

The open door opportunity can leave: Matt. 25: 10; 2 Cor. 6: 1.
Close by pointing out missed opportunities. Show how the scriptures show that man is to avail himself of the present opportunity and not function on the belief of deferring in view of believed future chances. Such is very dangerous, to say the least. Extend the invitation and urge the audience to accept Jesus’ invitation and open the door; thus, allowing his entrance.
