7 What are Asia’s agricultural and mineral resources and how are they distributed? Arable land is scarce 11% China,15% Japan Carve terraces/big flat steps into hillsides to raise crops Southeast Asia: richest farmland on continent Flooded rice fields (paddies), thrives in wet climates North China Plain raise: wheat,millet,maize, sweet potatoes, cotton S&E Asia lacks generous share of minerals Southeast Asia:large petroleum reserves India,China: iron, coal
