Mega Food Park is promoted by experienced professionals and supported by the government (the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Other SPV Members ) Empowering Farmer

5 Welcome to Satara Mega Food Park
The Mega Food Park located at Degaon in Satara district, Maharashtra, is one of India's largest integrated food parks. It provides end-to-end solutions to food processing industries with backward and forward linkage. As a model 'Mega Food Park' and the first of its kind in India, it provides state-of-the-art food processing infrastructure designed as per global standards and develops a veritable market place with common facilities on the lines of a software park or a textile park. The proposed SMFPPL is primarily to boost the growing food industry. The technical configuration of the project is targeted to meet international standards of quality and service. With this in view, SMFPPL have proposed to set Integrated Food Park at Degaon in Satara district. Satara Mega Food Park is spread across on around 64 acres of land. This proposed Food Park will have support infrastructure like: Central processing Centre (CPC) Primary Processing Centre (PPC) Collection Centers (CC) Empowering Farmer

6 Need for Food Park in Maharashtra
Maharashtra is a bio-diverse state with 9 agro climatic zones and varying soil types, suitable for agricultural development The State is one of the major horticulture States in India, with more than lakh hectares under horticulture and 4 lakh hectare under vegetables The State is: Largest producer of: - Seedless Grapes (78%) - Banana (75%) - Mandarin oranges (75%) - Tomatoes (42%) - Onion (63%) - Mangoes Despite having large agricultural strengths and apart from poor dissemination of knowledge, small land holdings etc., some of the infrastructure related issues, which have resulted in poor agricultural output, are : Inadequate marketing and supply chain networks resulting in poor value realization to farmers. Inadequate post harvest management and storage facilities resulting in large post harvest losses, seasonal gluts and shortages, Lack of processing facilities, which results in very little value addition etc Empowering Farmer

7 Mega Food Park Model Empowering Farmer Project Components
Envisioned to function as decentralized structure, the Mega Food Park would specifically include developing infrastructure to facilitate establishment of strong food processing industries backed by an efficient supply chain including collection centres, primary processing centres and cold chain infrastructure Empowering Farmer

8 Need For Food Park in Maharashtra
To overcome these issues, there is need of Mega Food Park, which will be an agri/horticultural processing estate developed for a cluster of individual processing units with support infrastructure, including some common processing facilities and other services where needed, and linked with a well established supply chain both inside and outside the estate. This food park would enable particularly small and medium enterprises to attain viability by sharing the cost of major common facilities such as R&D, cold storages, warehousing, pack houses, laboratory for food testing and analysis, effluents treatment plant, common processing facilities, power, water supply, etc. The Mega Food Park will also ensure the backward and forward linkages, based on the production strengths of the region Empowering Farmer

9 Proposed Project The proposed Mega Food Park will be located at Degaon village in Satara district Maharashtra State . Centre Processing Center is located at Degaon. The location presents a number of advantages like: Adjacent to National Highway 4 Heart of State: Phaltan in the North east, Koregaon and Khatao in the Middle East, Karad and Patan in the South and Satara in the West National Highway: NH-4 Nearest Airport: Pune 124 KM, Kolhapur 125 Km, Mumbai 263 Km Nearest Railway Station: Satara 9 Km Nearest Port: Mumbai Approx. 247 Km Suitably connected to all identified Primary Processing Centres The district has a fairly well developed transport and communication systems. Railway network is limited to the Pune-Satara-Kolhapur railway line (124 km long) which carries passenger as well as goods traffic. Road network is good, 130 km of the National Highway No. 4 passes through the district; there are 939km of State highways and km of other district roads.

10 Proposed Project I. Central Processing Centre The Central Processing Centre (CPC) would be the heart of the Mega Food Park and is ideally located in close vicinity of the major crop growing cluster at Degaon, Satara district, in Maharashtra. II. Primary Processing Centers (PPC): The Central Processing Centres would be backed by an efficient and sustainable supply chain in the form of Primary Processing Centres and Collection Centres.
