2. What is Summon? Summon is a Google-like search engine that provides fast, relevancy-ranked results: Enter the search terms into a single search box or select Advanced Search options from the results page Refine (limit) results by criteria such as date, subject, academic journals and other options View results, and link directly to full text or more details

3. Access Summon from the Search inside AGORA full- text using: Summon link at the bottom of the Content page Summon Access

4. Summon notes that OARE is the client which means that there will be access to full- text articles and ebooks Now opened is the Basic Search display of Summon. Enter pesticides AND water pollution and click on Search Basic Search

5. Results for the pesticides AND water pollution are 82,635 citations. Note the ‘Any’ Content Type and ‘Any’ Subject Terms. Remember we are searching OARE in Summon. Since this does not index all the OARE journals, other titles may be available from OARE portal. Also, publishers may not grant access to the journal or e-book to your institution.

6. Click on Full Text Online for the Water Pollution with Special… article

7. From the new screen, choose a journal link to the article. Note the Coverage Range.

8. Now opened is the initial webpage (current issue) of the journal. Click on Archive.

9. From the Archives page, open 2010 (volume 2)

10. The journal article with access to Full Text and PDF options is displayed

11. Now shown is the PDF version of the article

12. Also available in the search are e-books

13. Now displayed is the Preview option – with abstract and other information

14. Now displayed is the Save option which can be sorted by Relevance or Date

15. Now shown is the saved Preview of the article with Email and Print options

16. The highlighted article is an Elsevier Science Direct journal – with an extra step to access. Click on Full Text Online.

17. Click on Science Direct – Connect here FIRST to enable access

18. Now displayed is the initial page of the Science Direct portal.

19. Return to the Content is Available… page and click on Article – to access the full text

20. Now displayed is the html version of the article via Science Direct

21. The PDF version of the article via Science Direct has been displayed

22. Open the eBook Pesticides: Health, Safety and Environment (G.A. Matthews) by clicking on Full Text Online

23. For this title, access the Book

24. Now displayed is the table of contents for this book. Click on the PDF version of a chapter.

25. The publisher has requested login or payment for access to the eBook (and the OARE username and password will not grant access)

26. Return to the OARE Content page’s click on Publisher list to locate Wiley’s list of eBooks and journals including Pesticides…

27. John Wiley & Sons (Books) is listed in the You do not have full access to: category

28. In the Browse publisher – John Wiley (Books) list, the All Items titles have been opened – the ! boxes note that this publisher has not granted access to its ebooks.

29. Now opened is the All Items ‘P’ list of Books by title and, by scrolling down the list, Pesticides… is not accessible. Note the ! icon.

30. Access Problems and Solutions for Full- text Articles For more options when ebooks or journals are not accessible, go to the OARE Access Problems and Solutions presentation - Module 3 Appendix.

31. In the left column, numerous options to refine the search are listed. Content type - Any includes all materials available from OARE – journals and e-books. The search for deforestation AND climate change has 28,276 citations. Refine (Limit) a Search

32. This search now is limited to Content Type – Journal Article – a total of 22,156 articles

33. This search is refined (limited) to Content Type – Journal Article and Subject Terms – land use with a total of 3,059 citations Note the Keep search refinements and New Search options

34. Other Refine your search options are Publication Date and Language

35. This search is refined (limited to) Content Type – Journal Articles and Publication Date – 1 Jan 2014 to date

36. Results are 2,061 for the journal articles and January 2014 to date refined search.
