Geographical Location Bonn is a beautiful city near the river Rhine. In the North is the „Siebengebirge“ and in the South the Cologne Embankment Three Quarters of the city is west of the Rhine and one quarter east of the Rhine

Important dates of Bonn: 30 BC: The emergence of Bonn 13-9 BC: Bonn was named “Bonnburg” 9.century: The Normannen devastated the country in and "Bonnburg" were left. 1597: Bonn was officially capital and residence for the electorate of Cologne. 1689: Bonn survived the Thirty Years War intact, but was almost completely destroyed during the War of the League of Augsburg Max Franz von Habsburg founded the first university in Bonn 1848: The Industrialisation passed Bonn 1904: From 1904 the city grew by incorporating the surrounding towns and villages Word War 2: Much of Bonn's inner city was destroyed by aerial bombing 1990: parliament decided that Berlin should again be the German capital and seat of government

Why Bonn should be the capital of Europe Bonn has a very good infrastructure: - many federal highways (A562; A555; A565; A3; A4; A61) - three international airports in the near (Cologne/Bonn; Frankfurt; Düsseldorf) - one of the best train situation in Europe - a good ship situation (because of the river Rhine) Bonn has a very good geographical location: - near the river Rhine - in the North is the “Siebengebirge” and in the South the Cologne Bay
