Borscht It’is a vegetable soup made out of beets, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, dill, sometimes green pepper, served with sour cream. In Polesie borscht has been considered a symbol of family.

Pampushki It’s a great addition to borsht. Pampushki are type of dinner rolls. Once baked it is tossed with minced garlic, fresh herbs, and oil.

Salo The most popular Ukrainian food is salo. It is eaten raw, smoked or fried. The abundance of salo is the sign of real wealth.

Shkvarky It’s the passion of every Ukrainian! Prepared in a pot with the addition of onions, shkvarky were presented with potato pancakes and a variety of meals or simply with bread.

Varenyky Dumplings stuffed with fillings such as potato and cheese or cherries, often served boiled.

Syrnyky Cottage cheese fritters, sometimes with raisins, served with sour cream and jam.

Palyanytsya A round, braided bread. It is most often baked for weddings and its top decorated with birds and periwinkle.

Golubtsi This wonderful dish is named in honor of pigeons, birds that symbolize the power of fire and has long been considered symbols of the birth of the world. Golubtsi are cooked with cabbage,rice, meat, shredded carrots, onions and spices.

Kutia Traditional Christmas dish, made of poppy seeds, wheat, nuts, honey, and delicacies.

Uzvar A traditional compote made of dried fruit, mainly apples, pears, and prunes.

Medovukha A fermented alcoholic beverage made from honey, water, and yeast. Its flavour depends on the plants frequented by the honeybees, the length of time and method of aging, and the specific strain of yeast used.
