2  By 1930, there were 91,000 motor vehicles in Queensland.  Modern roads have meant faster and more reliable transport of passengers, goods and services.

3  The first railway in Australia was opened in 1854  A second Tilt Train between Brisbane and Bundaberg was introduced in July 1999, with the Brisbane to Cairns Tilt Train service scheduled to commence in 2002/2003.

4  Omnibuses were the first types of buses used throughout Brisbane.  Queensland Transport is spending millions of dollars to help make bus travel faster and more accessible with the construction of the South East Busway and the proposed Inner Northern Busway.

5  Horses were used both for riding and for pulling vehicles, though the loads they pulled were lighter than those pulled by bullocks
