1 The Greek Theatre By Mikhail, Judson, Sam, And Doug

2 Importance of the Theater  The theater is important because the plays taught the citizens about Greek myth and Greek history.  It also supplied much of the entertainment to the citizens of the time.

3 The Seating Of The Theater ♫ ♫Stone seating was in the 4 th century. ♫ ♫In the 5 th century B.C. the spectators sat on cushions or boards and their seats were wrapped around the orchestra.

4 Theater in Athens  The Athens theater shows architectural creativity and design.  Many Greek plays were performed here.  The most important image of the theater are the seats, because without the people coming to watch the plays there'd be no ancient Greek theater.

5 The Setup of the Theater  Theatron- the seating  Parodos- alleyway where the chorus and the actors enter for a play.  Orchestra- floor of the arena where dancing takes place.  Skene- rectangular building provides generic backdrop for the action of the play.

6 Conclusion Physical theater is important to Oedipus Rex because the theater helps to get the word out about the myth. It also adds drama and a picture to the myth. Archaeologists need to know this to be able to relate the theater to Oedipus Rex.
