History of the Libra The Constellation Libra is a southern constellation lying on the ecliptic between Virgo and Scorpius. Libra is the only inanimate sign of the zodiac, all the others representing either humans or animals. When the Romans put Libra in the sky the autumnal equinox resided among these dim stars. After a while the stars of Libra came to represent the Golden Chariot of Pluto. Libra was also “the Scales of Justice” held by Julius Caesar. The Ancient Greeks did not see Libra, they had thought that is was part of Scorpius and that it made up the claws of the Scorpion.
