„Moderné vzdelávanie pre vedomostnú spoločnosť/Projekt je spolufinancovaný zo zdrojov EÚ“ Inovácia obsahu a metód vzdelávania prispôsobená potrebám vedomostnej spoločnosti PROCESSES PAINTING VYPRACOVAL: Mgr, Vladislav, Kravec Október 2014

Content Techniques and materials o Transparent o Semi - opaque o Opaque Processes o Watercolours o Acrylic paints

Techniques and materials Fluid media/transparent:(water colours, drawing inks) Materials: streched paper, card, round paintbrushes, masking fluid and tape, water) Oil-based media(opaque):(oil paint) Materials: streched canvas, wooden panel, gesso, flat and round paintbrushes, turpentine, linseed oil, oil medium, pallete knife

Techniques and materials Acrylic (opaque) Materials: almost any surface (canvas, paper, wood), water, paintbrushes, pallette knife Tempera (opaque) Materials: wooden panel, water, softer flat and round paintbrushes Gouache (semi-opaque) The same as watercolours plus white tempera paint

Processes - WATERCOLOURS Watercolour effects: 1.Wash syn.:(glaze) a thin transparent layer of paint basis of all watercolour work

Processes - WATERCOLOURS 2. Wet-in-wet colours are dropped onto still wet washes, spread out and dry with soft or jagged edges.

Processes - WATERCOLOURS 3.Masked highlights using masking fluid or tape we isolate highlights when the fluid is dry, we apply paints. when the painting is dried out, we remove the fluid by rubbing it out by the finger.

Processes - WATERCOLOURS We start with light tones. As watercolours are transparent, must be worked from light to dark

Processes - WATERCOLOURS Then we continually add darker washes. We have to be carefull and not to „overload“ it. The colours must stay transparent.

Processes - WATERCOLOURS Finally we create the contrast by the touches of dark colours. The result must be light and colours bright.

Processes – Acrylic paints We can use acrylics in any possible way and even immitate other media such as oils or watercolours It is possible to use techniques alla prima, glazing technique or impasto

Processes – Acrylic paints We usually start with the compositional drawing in one colour. Then we underpaint all areas, whether locally (with the main colours of objects) or with colour reflections (see the image)

Processes – Acrylic paints We continually add more colour reflections (the colour of one object is reflected in another) and change the tones to get illusion of space.

Processes – Acrylic paints Finally we concentarte on details and add the darkest tones and highlights.
