3 Carbohydrates Most food contains Carbohydrate
Body breaks it into simple sugar Simple sugar is the main source of the body The two major types of Carbohydrate is: Simple and Complex Simple Carbohydrate is equal to simple sugar Complex Carbohydrate is also called starches Starches include grain products such as bread, cracker, pasta, etc…

4 Fats Fat is a vital part in food
Some foods such as fruits and vegetables have no fats in them. The studies say kids older than 2 should get about 30% of their daily calories from fat Types: Unsaturated fats, Saturated fats, Trans fats Unsaturated fats are good for the heart health Too much saturated fats= raise cholesterol blood level and heart disease Trans fat also = raise cholesterol blood level and heart disease Fats help kids grow in a proper way

5 Protein Protein = a tissue in your body
Muscles, organs, and the immune system are made out of protein The body makes the protein into numerous specialized protein molecules Certain amount of protein makes your digestive juices in your stomach starts to work They break the protein into basic units They are called Amino Acids (20 per day). They are an energy source for the body

6 Fibre Types: cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin pectin's, mucilage's, gums. Fibre is found in grain products Body cannot digest fibre Helps move food through the digestive system It helps to lower blood cholesterol and prevents diabetes and heart diseases Men should get 30g per day and 20g for women Not enough fibre will make gas, bloating, and diarrhoea occur

7 Vitamins Vitamins and minerals are substances found in foods we eat
It helps you grow properly There are many vitamin types such as: A, B, C, D, E Vitamin A helps your sight Vitamin B helps to produce protein for your body Vitamin C helps you heal from a cut Vitamin D helps your bones Vitamin E helps your cell/immune system

8 Dietary Minerals Types: Calcium, Zinc, Potassium, Iron, Magnesium.
Calcium helps the function of nerves and smooth moving muscle Zinc is essential for healthy skin maintenance and strong immune system Potassium corrects cell functions. Iron carries oxygen to cells Magnesium works with calcium to make healthy bones They are found in vegetables, fruits, etc…

9 Water There are 3 types of water: liquid, solid, gas
Adults are made up of 70% water A healthy person can drink a lot of water per day (48 cups) Used for cleansing, drinking, bathing, etc… Need 1-7 litres per day Most of the food contains water in them
