7 Islam Grows Merchant rulers were against Muhammad
Feared pilgrimages would end - Kaaba Muhammad leaves Mecca for Medina - journey called hijrah Gains followers, returns to Mecca, and turns Kaaba into center of worship for Islam (630 A.D.)
