3. Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.

4. Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ he is not His.

5. 1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do not know that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

6. Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

7. 1 Thessalonians 4:8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.

9. Mystery – Can’t Understand There are some mysteries in the Bible. 1 Timothy 3:16 – And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness

10. Holy Spirit Baptism Holy Spirit Baptism was: ONLY for the Apostles Gave them inspiration and revelation Power to impart gifts to others Acts 5:12 – And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people.

11. Laying on of Hands With laying on of hands a gift was given However, they could not pass this on to others

12. Laying on of Hands Acts 8:12-15 – Apostles had this power Romans 1:11 – Paul wanted to impart spiritual gifts to them Acts 19:2-6 – Apollos could not distribute gifts at Ephesus

13. Salvation or Remission of Sins Salvation is for sinners 1 Timothy 1:15 – This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance that Christ came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

14. Salvation or Remission of Sins The Indwelling Spirit is for Christians Galatians 4:6 – And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

15. Eternal Life Some believe that the Spirit is the offer of eternal life. The indwelling is NOW!

16. Eternal Life Eternal life is later – after this life has ended. Mark 10:30 – Who shall receive a hundredfold now in this time --- and in the age to come eternal life.

17. Receive the Word They received the word before they asked about salvation – Acts 2:37 Indwelling Spirit was promise to those who repent and are baptized – Acts 2:38 James 1:21 – When we receive the Word we have the ability to be saved

18. Mere Influence Romans 8:11 – But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through the Sprit who dwells in you.

19. Holy Disposition Some teach that the Holy Spirit is for those who already have a holy disposition. I will show you in tonight’s sermon that part of the power He imparts is to help us overcome sin. If we had to overcome sin FIRST – we would not need the Spirit.

21. Closing Questions Have you repented of sins? Have you been baptized for the remission of your sins? Have you obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ? Do you have the Spirit of God dwelling in you?
