Date of Expiration: NCIC Policy vs. Maryland State Law NCIC Policy states that POs expire at 12:00 am on the Date of Expiration. Maryland State Law states that POs expire at 12:00 am on the day after the Date of Expiration. For Protective Order - VINE notification both need to be accommodated. For METERS Protective Order Enter and Modify Forms, a checkbox will be added for service on the Date of Expiration. Direct Notification transactions will allow the Date of Service to be equal to the Date of Expiration. If served before the Date of Expiration the PO will be sent to VINE, METERS, and NCIC. If served on the Date of Expiration the PO will be sent only to VINE. If served after the Date of Expiration an error message will be sent to the user.
