Gross Anatomy Head Muscles Facial Muscles:
Frontalis – allows you to raise eyebrows and wrinkle forehead Orbicularis Oculi – circles around eyes Orbicularis Oris – kissing muscles Zygomaticus – smiling Chewing Muscles: Masseter: closes jaw by elevating mandible Temporalis – acts as a synergist of the masseter closing the jaw

Platysma: pulls corner of mouth inferiorly Sternocleidomastoid: flexes neck, rotated head Pectoralis major: adducts and flexes humerus Intercostal muscle: deep muscles found between the ribs Rectus Abdominis: flexes vertebral column External Oblique: flexes and rotates vertebral column
