10. The 2008 Elections In the House of Representatives, the Democrats have a majority of 54%. On November 4, 2008, there will be elections for all seats (for the 2009-2011 period). In the Senate, there will be voting to elect 34 of the 100 Senators. Of the 34 seats, 21 right now are held by Republicans, and 12 by the Democratic Party.
