Very close to Bramalea Shopping centre (Major Shopping Centre) Surrounded by main roads and heavy traffic. Many different apartment buildings and homes in area.
9
There are 3 major areas of concern that we would like to resolve: 1.Provide Access Control for certain sections of park 2. Landscaping 3. Areas of shelter (especially without lighting)
10
Evidence of drinking and possible drug use at the top of ski hill. Insufficient lighting around and at top of hill. Drop off at back of hill is nearly straight down with insufficient fencing. Pathway at back of hill provides a hidden entrance. Rock creates perfect area to sit and socialize. (Drinking, smoking marijuana) The ski hill appears to be under construction and appears as a dangerous place. There is NO fencing blocking off construction on the hill or the ski hill itself.
12
Block off the hill completely when it is not in use. Keep Thistle and provide efficient fencing around the entire hill. It is clear that socialization is going on. Injury or death over time is inevitable without change.
13
The pond and petting zoo both clearly showed examples of inadequate and unsafe fencing. All of the fences in the petting zoo were under 6ft tall and easy to climb. Animals that pose life threatening injuries were still behind these fences. The pond was well fenced off except for certain areas. If people go under fence and fall in water, injuries or death could occur. Many gates that appeared as though they should be locked were wide open.
15
Use a chain on the gates when petting zoo hours are not on. Provide a 8 foot fence around perimeter of petting zoo. Makes climbing obvious. Close any gaps and holes that appear to be used as an entrance. Cold water could be lethal.
16
Certain areas inside of the park do not making any logical sense from a landscaping point of view. At certain corners of the park the land rises and makes a visual barrier from the road. Creates an area of cover from the roadway. There is no reason for the land to have this shape.
17
Take land down to street level around perimeter of park. Take out unnecessary bunches of trees. Cut branches on bottom of trees to at least 5 feet in height. Pave paths in certain areas to give clear walkway.
18
There is no need to provide shelter in areas that are not meant to contain people. Bleachers at different areas of the park provide excellent shelter and cover. Baseball diamond dugouts have no lighting near them. Makes it difficult to see individuals.
19
Provide areas of shelter with lighting (LED lights). This will make them visible from a distance. Lights should be motion sensor activated. Will scare off deviants and help deter criminal activity.
