WHAT IS A CAREER PATHWAY? A career pathway is a sequence of courses embedded with work based learning opportunities that prepare students for both college and career upon completion of high school The focus is on providing students with real world experiences to help them become equipped for jobs in the 21 st century.

CTE/ROP WITHIN A LINKED LEARNING PATHWAY CTE cannot be a stand alone course anymore!!! It must be integrated into a full program of study for the the students. But HOW????

POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR NON-CTE WBL EXPERIENCES You MUST know legal requirements and bring in legal experts Affiliation agreements MUST be made with downtown Building a relationship with businesses is key “One bad apple” Start small
18
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT Part of our progress has come from getting courses a-g approved Ideally these are connected to industry level certifications Things to consider Who is qualified to teach the course(s)? Is there an existing course that can be folded into the pathway (e.g. ROP)? Who can help you in writing these course (SPOILER ALERT: there is!)? Are these courses written already, such that they can simply be adopted?
