Exposition Rising Action Climax Falling Action Resolution Basic Situation Main character(s) Setting: Where, When, & Customs/Way of Life Main conflict: Describe event Conflict: External or internal Character vs: Character Society Nature Climax: Describe event/point of greatest tension (1 or 2 sentences) Falling Action: Describe 3 events (SAI: 2 events) leading toward resolution (1 sentence each) Resolution: Describe the event that resolves the conflict (at least 1 sentence) P L O T Plot Development/Level of Tension Time STRUCTURESTRUCTURESTRUCTURESTRUCTURE STRUCTURESTRUCTURESTRUCTURESTRUCTURE Complications: Describe 10 events (SAI: 5 events) leading to the climax (1 sentence each)

Guidelines All plot development events must be described in complete sentences Creatively format the chart just like it looks on previous slide Provide all literary term headings Do not use lined paper Must be colorful (add graphics if you want) See following examples for ideas (note: see examples in class for precise requirements.)

How to Grade a Dramatic Structure Chart You will be graded on each heading/label, each answer/description, and overall effort/ creativity Be sure to look over the rubric for specifics—this is how you’ll be graded. Be sure to review the requirements BEFORE turning in your project. Late projects are docked 10% each day they are late. Please ask if you’d like to review samples in class BEFORE the due date.
