What’s RSS? RSS is considered a name variously used to refer to three different standards –Really Simple Syndication (RSS0.9) –Rich Site Summary (RSS0.91) –RDF Site Summary (RSS 1.0) Compatibility between 7 different versions

RSS 2.0 RSS 2.0 is the latest standard of RSS Harvard Law School is now responsible for the future development of the RSS 2.0 specification

RSS Structure RSS document is often known as “RSS feed” Can have three different types of file extensions:.RSS,.XML and.RDF

RSS Structure cont, A channel may contain any number of s. An may represent a “news”, and its description is a synopsis of the news, and the link points to the full article. All elements of an item are optional, however at least one of title or description must be present.

Exercise Create a RSS file containing information about three new movies and their descriptions and put it on a (any) webpage with automatic feed link for the page. You can use your arch personal space. Hand in this exercise by sending address to Dr. Watson
