1 RESOURCE ROAD CALL PROCEDURES

2 There is a need to develop a radio call standard for single and multiple users to operate and communicate safely on Resource Roads.

3 To this end the MOF/BCTS is currently in the process of obtaining radio frequencies which will be available to provide effective coverage to all users while operating on Forest Service Roads (FSRs).

4 FSR Radio Mapping Procedures The Road Manager will establish the names and numbers for “Main” roads and Branch roads. The Road Manager will select the Point of Commencement (PoC) of each road. The PoC will normally be the log dump, highway connection or other FS road. The kilometre numbering for each branch road off of the main will recommence at Km 0 and be spatially established.

5 Road Signage At the PoC of the “main FSR” an identification sign, and the Resource Road (RR) channel (and frequency and tone) sign will be posted

7 Branch Roads Each driveable branch road will have an identification sign posted at the PoC

8 Eve 1200 0 km Up

9 Kilometre Signage Kilometre signs will be installed every kilometre. Signs will indicate road name, road mark and direction of travel. Following example would be radio call procedure; –“Fuel truck, --Eve River --12 km– Up”

10 Eve River Mainline 12 km Up

11 Eve River Mainline 12 km Down

12 Kilometre Signage at Road T-Junctions Kilometre signs will be installed both ways on the through road, to cover travel in either direction Road mark may indicate a distance other than a whole kilometre (e.g., 8.7 km)

13 Eve River Mainline 8.7 km Up

14 Eve River Mainline 8.7 km Down

15 Loading Channels The loading channels are intended to be utilized for communications between truck drivers and loader operators, during loading and unloading situations. They are not to be used while travelling on roads Upon entering a cut block, landing or sort yard the radio channel to be used will be posted along with the worksite operator’s company name.
