2 Bell Work 9-4-15 In your opinion, what is the most difficult part of working in a group and why?

3 Scale Scale Description 4 Through independent work beyond what was taught in class, you could: investigate the location of seasonal constellations in the local sky. predict location of constellations at future times. determine the celestial equator, latitude and position of the Pole Star for a given position on the Earth. determine the distances of stars in a given constellation to each other and to Earth. 3 You will be able to: describe and apply the coordinate system used to locate objects in the sky. distinguish the various methods of measuring astronomical distances and apply each in appropriate situations. 2 You will be able to: determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other astronomy specific words and phrases as they are used in context to relevant topics label diagrams with degree measurements describe how or why different units of measurement are needed for distances in space 1 You will be able to label diagrams with degree measurements list the different units of measurement needed to measure distances in space

4 Job 1 – Leader Ensure that each member of the group contributes, that everyone’s ideas are represented, and that the group stays on task to finish the activity in the allotted time. This doesn’t mean you are in charge, only that you are responsible for your group finishing and working together. Job 2 – Recorder Will write the group consensus answers on the answer sheet and to be sure that the assignement is turned in before the due date. This person will not be the same every time! Job 3 – Skeptic Your role is to ask “are we sure?” and “Why do you think that?” Basically double checking your answers, all the time! Job 4 – Explorer Needs to try to investigate ideas and areas that no one else has considered. To think outside of the box.

5 Group Work This is “lab” number 3 You will be graded as a group – so please work together Make sure all of your names are on the answer sheet Please don’t write on the class set.

6 Please put the clicker back in the correct location Thanks a bunch!

7 Please get your clicker from the back of the room. (and sit in your lab groups from yesterday)
