COPY LEARNING TARGET 2/17 #4 I can explain how systems need to work together to maintain homeostasis in our body *LAST ONE FOR THIS CHAPTER
2
AGENDA 2/17 1.Go over ACT questions 2.QUIZ back 3.Ch 4 NOTES #6 – Last ones for CH 4 THIS WEEK W = Study Guide Clicker Th = make up day Ch 4 (EC if caught up) F = Ch 4 TEST (big points)

Take our your NEW ACT PRACTICE score sheet 4
7
Put your ACT practice score on your sheet Keep adding stars until you reach the top!

CH 5 NOTES #6 Body Systems and Homeostasis
9
NO BODY SYSTEM CAN WORK WITHOUT THE OTHERS THEY WORK TOGETHER TO MAINTAIN A BALANCE IN OUR BODY - HOMEOSTASIS
10
The brain ultimately is the one that keeps everything in balance in our body Sensors around the body let the brain know if something is too much/ little or too high/low
11
Brain sends messages through nerves or hormones to cause a change back to normal NERVOUS SYSTEM + ENDOCRINE SYSTEM = BODY BALANCE
12
NEGATIVE FEEDBACK – when the brain detects a change in the body and it causes a change in the opposite direction EX: BP too high, so it lowers it sugar levels too low, so it increases it temperature high, so it lowers it (sweat)
13
Body detects a decrease in O2 1)Makes you decide to breath OR 2)Makes you pass out so your brain can take back over decision to breathe
14
THINGS WE NEED TO KEEP IN HOMEOSTASIS IN OUR BODY: EXAMPLES: 1. Temperature 2. Water 3. Sugar 4. Calcium / minerals 5. Blood pressure
15
1. TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS: Nervous Circulatory Integumentary Muscular
16
2. WATER SYSTEMS: Nervous Endocrine Excretory Circulatory
17
3. SUGAR SYSTEMS: Digestive Circulatory Endocrine
18
4. CALCIUM BALANCE SYSTEMS: Endocrine Skeletal Digestive Excretory
19
100’s of examples more!!!! TODAY – we will look at blood pressure balance
21
BLOOD PRESSURE
