1 Unity Through HUMILITY Philippians 1:27-2:11

2 “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9

3 1:27 Conduct Worthy of the Gospel
Worthy conduct leads to: standing fast in ONE spirit (1:27; 2:2) striving together with ONE mind (1:27; 2:2) enduring our God-granted suffering together (1:28-30) How is this accomplished? Humility within each disciple

4 The Motivation for HUMILITY 2:1

5 2:1 “If there is any…” Encouragement in Christ, Comfort in God’s Love,
Fellowship of the Spirit, Affection and Compassion (in us for others?) Shouldn’t these blessings be motivation for us to be at unity in our relationships? w/ Christians? In our marriages and families?

6 The Command for HUMILITY 2:2-4

7 Make my joy complete by…
2  …being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3  Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4  do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

8 The example of HUMILITY 2:5-8

9 2:5 Have this mind in you! “6  who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7  but emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, and being made in the likeness of men. 8  Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Edit slide

10 The outcome of HUMILITY 2:9-11

11 Humility… Then exaltation
“9  Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10  so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11  and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

12 “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9
