Column Base Details
2
Column Base Details A column base detail shows the connection of the column to the footing. The connection detail shows how the column will be attached to the footing. The dimensions usually show the grout thickness, thread projection of the anchor bolts, and the total projection of the anchor bolt.

Column Base Details The construction of the footings is not part of the steel fabricators work but masonry plans may show certain items which the steel fabricator is required to furnish. These items may include anchor bolts, leveling plates, grilles, machinery supports, etc. which must be placed by the masonry contractor prior to the erection of the steel framing. An anchor bolt plan is furnished by the steel fabricator to the masonry contractor to show the field placement of the anchor bolts. Information should include Center to Center dimensions of columns, location dimensions for anchor bolts, center to center dimensions of anchor bolts, erection marks, elevations at the tops of base plates and leveling plates, grout thickness, and projection of anchor bolts above the top of the concrete.
