The life of Elijah was filled with various trials yet he overcame all these. Elijah was a natural man like us. (James 5:17). He performed many miracles for God, yet at one point in his life, he experienced depression. We too can experienced depression but the grace of God enables us to overcome the various trials we will experience.

SIGNS OF DEPRESSION: 1. After a great victory, Elijah experienced testing. (1 Kings 18:19-40, 19:1-4). There will be mountains (victories) and there will be valleys (trials) in our Christian life. Heb. 10:32-33) 2. When our body is weak and tired. Elijah ran to Beersheba. He went on a day’s journey. (1 Kings 18:46, 19:3-4)

3 When pride comes in. Elijah saw God’s provision (1 Kings 17:2-6). He did many miracles (James 5:17-18, 41-46). Pride goes before destruction. (Prov. 16:18 1 Cor. 10:12) “I’m the only one left”. Elijah feared for his life. We must abide in Jesus. John 15:4-5, 1 Cor.1:29,31, Rom. 1:17)

WHAT DID GOD DO TO RESTORE ELIJAH? 1. God made Elijah to sleep and eat. (1 Kings 19:5-8). We must rest upon the Lord. (Isa. 40:28-31, Matt. 11:28. Meditate on His word. (Joshua 1:8) 2. God speaks to us when all is quiet. ( 1 Kings 19:11-12). He will speak to us when we call to Him (Jer. 33:3-4)

3. God helps us to see our life as it really is. (1 Kings 19:18) We are not alone. (Heb. 13:5-6) 4. He provides the help and friendship of other Christians. (1 Kings 19:19-21). Communicate with the right person.
