2. Religion Believe in one god: the Humus, the God of land and nature. Because Penland has a great amount of land, people need to pray for their crops regularly every week. On Humus Day, a holiday, Pennish have to pray outside, on a field, thanking for the possible gain. Then the farmers have to start gathering at least a quarter of the crops. After, they can cook the traditional food, potato pudding and a meal of their own.

3. Language Oblong Oblong originated from the word ‘oblong’ which has a definition of having an elongated shape as a rectangle. Our first president, President Lievin brought this language into our country. Characters in the Oblong alphabet are edged and hold a boxy form. It is spoken and read in English but written in the native language. The alphabet persists of similar looking shapes so the appearance is kept simple.

4. Holidays Major Holidays National Day – June 1 (The day Penland became a country in cries of joy.) President Day – March 9 (The first election event was held on this day and is remembered as a joyous moment for all the citizens.) Oblong Day- February 2 (This day, Oblong was first presented to the people and public schools began to add it to the education program.) Humus Day- October 21 (A special day of devoted time set out for Humus, our God.) Union Day - Febuary 14 (Penland was apart for some time and on this day it was finally united as one.) Military Honor Day - July 30 (People spend a day in honor of Penland’s military. Also in sorrow and grief of the lost ones.)

5. Traditional Food National/Traditional Food Sparkling Water (It is said to stand for the river that flows between Penland as it gleams from the light of the sun.) Pear (Penland is well known for their harvest in crops and pears are a specialty among the fruits. It is also Penland’s national fruit.) Potato Pudding (needs to be cooked with the potato individuals have grown.) Barley Poridge (People from all around the world come to taste the famous poridge of Penland. It is sweet and hot warming you to the stomach.)

6. Traditional Clothes Clothes - Lien Citizens are given the right to wear any sort of clothing of their wish. Pennish do have a traditional set of clothes called Lien. The clothes are made out of linen and cotton. It keeps you warm or cool during summer and winter. These traditional clothes usually come in dresses for women and pants for men. Their designs are exquisite and very fashionable which catches many eyes of travelers. The military’s uniform is also made with this light and impermeable fabric for more swiftness.

7. National Sport Snowsled I’ ball - This is a Pennish sport that is similar to baseball but different in numerous ways. First off, the ball is made of ice and snow. The pitcher throws the ball to the batter whom after hitting the ball rides on the sled beside him to go down the hill. Of course during the ride down, there are obstacles lying around. The goal of the pitcher and his team is to get the rider off his sled. If lucky, he will fall off by himself but usually the players have to throw snowballs at them in order to knock them off. When the runner is at the end of the small hill it is a point for his team.

8. National Symbols National Animal - Porcupine (Wild porcupine can be found in the country sides of Penland. They were actually the first animal species to inhabit the land of Penland.) National Flower - Purple Rose (The purple rose was created from scientists in Penland during a experimental lab. They were in the middle of an experimental lab to make a blue rose. This however created the purple rose which is now the symbol of Penland.) National Colors - Purple, White, Green (These are our flag colors representing the rose and leaves.)
