The twins were descendants of the Latin King Numitor and had been left for dead by his evil brother Amulius. According to myth, the babies were rescued and raised by a she-wolf. By 509 BC the Romans had established a Republic. Like our government, they had a system with a Senate that separated powers and created checks and balances. Today they include 10 of the highest mountain peaks in the world including the tallest Mount Everest. At a length of over 3,700 miles long the Great Wall of China took over 1,700 years to complete. Home The Silk Road was included several routes from China to Rome. The journey was over 4,000 miles long but allowed China to trade silk, ivory, spices and other valuable resources including ideas with the Ancient Romans. More recently, over 6,000 men made of terracotta (clay) was uncovered in a tomb. The men are full sized figures dressed like Ancient Chinese warriors and were found standing in military order. Even more amazing no two soldiers look alike! Very little is known about these men, but to learn more about them and the land of China check out china.org
