2. Anabolic Steroids Also known as “Roids”.
Mimics the effects of male hormones testosterone
They increase the protein synthesis which results in the buildup of cellular tissue (mainly muscles)
Used in medical conditions to increase bone growth and appetite, induce male puberty, and treat chronic wasting conditions, such as cancer and AIDS.

3. How it affects the body
Can weaken the immune system and the body’s defense against germs and diseases.
Liver damage and cancer in young people.
Stop bones from permanently growing in teenagers.

4. Affects the Brain
It can infect the limbic system which is part of the brain that involves learning and memory.
Roid Rages may also occur.
It may trigger aggressive behavior

5. Anabolic Steroids can confuse the brain and body
Anabolic steroids can change the messages the hypothalamus sends to the body. This can disrupt normal hormone function.
Your body's testosterone production is controlled by a group of nerve cells at the base of the brain, called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus also does a lot of other things. It helps control appetite, blood pressure, moods, and reproductive ability.

7. Administration
There are three common forms in which anabolic steroids are administered: oral pills, injectable steroids, and skin patches.
Oral administration is the most convenient.
Testosterone administered by mouth is rapidly absorbed, but it is largely converted to inactive metabolites, and only about 1/6 is available in active form.

8. Men Side Effects
Acne, testicular atrophy, decreased sperm count, gynecomastia (enlarged breasts in men), high blood pressure, increased LDL cholesterol, decreased HDL cholesterol, fluid retention, abnormal liver function, and prostate enlargement, just to name a few.

9. Women Side Effects
Many of the problems, however, are exclusively feminine representations of natural male characteristics such as male pattern balding, deepening of the voice, facial and body hair growth, and coarsening of the skin.
