Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have "morphed" into another kind of rock. These rocks were once igneous or sedimentary rocks.

How do sedimentary and igneous rocks change? already existing rocks are buried deep with in the Earth tremendous heat, great pressure, and chemical reactions causes these rocks to change shape and structure This change is called metamorphism
