Virtual Classrooms (Webinars) - How YOU can use the VC with your students Presenters – Kerry Trabinger/Mark Samuels/Robyn Watson Date – 10 April 12 noon. 1/ To test your audio/mic click on the Meeting menu on the top left of your screen and select Audio Wizard. Follow the prompts to set up your audio. 2/ To use your microphone click on the Mic icon and click connect my audio and click allow. (only when requested by the presenter.) 3/ Please type in the skinny white rectangle box (on the very bottom right of your screen) which organisation you are from and then press enter.

Recordings -Teachers can pre record a session if they are going to be a away -Teachers can post up a session and students can use as revision - Can be used for flip classroom Students -Who are unable to attend due to illness/broken leg able to attend virtually -Able to log on from any location including a BUS! -Able to present assessment from any location -Students able to access Virtual classroom with or without teachers and practice activities such as interview techniques Guest Speakers: able to present from anywhere in the world Other uses: Meetings/PD/Conferences CIT Use of VC’ – but wait there’s more

Using the classroom in Blended delivery and recording! The most popular use of the VC is to have a normal face to face class with the VC on the front screen. The teacher will use a wireless mic and a tracking webcam so can walk around hands free. Engage students initially by doing an interactive icebreaker Use engaging power point slides No more than 4 slides without interaction Ask students to type in chat regularly Ask your students to use emoticons regularly and try to vary what you request Use the whiteboard tools yourself on your power points and/or ask the students to use the tools Cover each slide in less than 4 minutes Use the polling function during your session Use the plugins for example the Randomiser Limit sessions to a maximum of 1 hour (ideally with break in the middle) Tips and Tricks for Engagement
