Background to the visit Appointed Sept 2008 Previous experience – LA and other schools Ofsted expected – May 2006 Part of the pilot – meeting in December Know the school – meetings/walks SEF – May 2006 Support of LA

The Visit Arrived 8.30 a.m. – 2 HMI inspectors OFSTED inspectors arrived Met with HMI – organisation/structure/timetable Inspectors out and about in school – playground/observations/conversations Meeting between HMI and HT/DH – discuss PiB Timetabling meetings/discussions Meeting at end of day to review their initial thoughts – set homework! Parental views Meetings Observations – more and some longer Final feedback Report and letter to children

Pros and Cons of our No-Notice Inspection No excessive build up but… Over quickly All staff observed Collaborative Regular meetings/dialogue Oral SEF Honest assessment of day to day Staff preferred it…afterwards! Easier to follow SEF StaffingAvailabilitySpace Quality of teaching and learning Parental views Intense pressure to find everything Post inspection repercussions – staff, parents, community… Links with admin dept. Community Cohesion
