CODE OF CONDUCT We welcome Work Experience Students into Ynysddu Primary School and have devised a Code of Conduct to ensure a productive and enjoyable experience is achieved by all: Punctuality: As school starts at 9.00am, we would ask Students to arrive no later than 8.50am. You can make your way to your designated classroom on your arrival. We ask students to wait until at least 3.20pm before leaving. Appearance: As you are in a professional surrounding and as all staff are expected to dress appropriately, we would ask all students to do the same. Jeans and trainers are not acceptable. Shorts, Track Suit bottoms, Tee-Shirts and Trainers can be worn on a day when your class will be participating in Games / PE. Students are asked to set a good example for the pupils of Ynysddu Primary.

Children are not allowed to wear jewellery as part of our health and safety policy at Ynysddu Primary. In light of this we would ask Students to be discrete in wearing any items of jewellery and set a professional standard for pupils. Pupils of Ynysddu Primary are not encouraged to colour their hair (e.g. blue, green, red) and we would ask that Work Experience Students refrain from doing this while at Ynysddu Primary. Mobile Phones / Facebook: Work Experience Students are asked not to use their mobile phones during lesson times and while outside on the yard during break times. We kindly ask mobile phones to be stored “out of site” during lesson times and while on the yard. You may use your phone when not in contact with children. It is every individuals responsibility to ensure that any individuals or the school in general are not discussed or commented upon on Facebook or any other social networking sight. Break Times and Lunch Work Experience Students can take a morning break at 11.00am until 11.15am AFTER the children’s break. You may help yourself to tea, coffee and chilled water in the staff room but we ask you to please wash cups after use. Students are not to leave the school premises during this time for health and safety reasons. During the children’s break, students are asked to accompany the children onto the yard. Please be mindful of the example you set to the pupils. Students may leave the premises during lunch time but return no later than 12.55pm If you wish to stay in the building during this period please use the library. Professional Behaviour We understand that some Students may know pupils personally. We ask you to please keep a professional distance between yourself and any pupil, whether a friend, relative, neighbour or other; Please respect all staff and pupils during your stay.

Finally: We will endeavour to provide you with a worthwhile Work Experience within a Primary School environment but as you can appreciate some tasks cannot be undertaken by a Work Experience Student that a qualified teacher can do and during these times we ask for your co-operation.
